On the second floor of the Simsbury fire station on Hopmeadow Street (Main Station), you’ll find the studio for WSIM, which has been broadcasting at 103.5 FM since 2015. Most of the time you’ll hear a very eclectic rotation of music, but there are also six live shows, and in an emergency it’s where you’ll listen for news and updates. When microbursts tore up parts of town in August 2024, it was a crucial link.

With moments that ranged from a soul-stirring “Call Him Up” by the Gertrude Banks Gospel Choir to a reflective version of U2’s MLK from Combined Ensembles, Simsbury High School’s Choral Collage was pure musical bliss.

Marcos Carreras has local roots but a far-reaching musical life. His talents and enthusiasm for music have brought him from West Hartford, where he grew up, to the Springfield Conservatory of the Arts, where he has been teaching for several years, to music collaborations far and wide. A recording artist as well, he currently lives with his wife and daughter in Farmington.

Through a series of meetings and events, it helps people see the community through different lenses. About 40 people belong to this organization whose mission is to increase interest in the visual arts by providing stimulating demonstrations and exhibitions.

Kelvin Ruiz is an artist who uses the human body as his canvas. His tattoos are intricate and carefully drawn. After two years in business in Cromwell, he decided to relocate his Warpath Studio to a storefront on New Britain Avenue.

Company ’N Tempo strives to enrich the community through the joy of the performing arts. So, whether one enjoys singing, dancing, acting, or playing guitar or piano, this Cromwell incubator and collaborator at 211 Shunpike Road is a popular choice.

You can learn how to paint, draw, carve wood and so much more at the Wethersfield Art League. The venerable nonprofit arts organization that was founded in 1954 is seeing an increase in membership. Classes are taught at its Little Red Schoolhouse near the intersection of Welles and Wolcott Hill roads.
