Creating a themed piece of dimensional art out of cardboard alone might be a challenge, but working with four other people? Seems impossible! Not so for the creative teams of 7th and 8th grade students at Sedgwick Middle School.

A third grade teacher at Woodside Intermediate School, she is still in her 20s but already earning top accolades. Baker was recently presented with the Teacher of the Year Award for the Cromwell Public Schools.

There’s something soothing about the companionship of a well-trained dog. That’s one of many reasons why Principal Cara Quinn would like to add a trained therapy dog to the West Hill School staff. She had one on hand the evening of April 28 during the annual book fair and children flocked to pet it and make friends.

There were smiling faces all around at the Wethersfield PEP graduation the evening of May 21 at the Pitkin Community center. Nine women were there with their families and friends to celebrate completing this 14-week program that is presented under the auspices of UConn Extension. PEP stands for People Empowering People and this was the 10th graduating class since the town began offering the program.

Members of the Board of Education were saddened when Superintendent of Schools Dr. Enza Macri announced that she would retire at the end of this academic year. But they are also confident that they have selected the right person to replace her.
