The Racial Justice Steering Committee at the Rocky Hill Congregational Church doesn’t just talk the talk, it walks the walk.

The Rev. Ron Cox likes to write books for children that convey a positive message. He recently published “The Little Bunnies: An Easter Story.”

The 2025-2026 winter dumped amounts of snow that Greater Hartford towns have not seen for many years. It required numerous “call-outs” of the public works staff who operate the trucks that plow and salt the roads.

The concept is that everyone should be able to participate in general society. That includes those who are on the autism spectrum. That’s why the town Human, Youth and Social Services Department, in partnership with the East Hartford-based nonprofit Shine Your Light, held an Inclusivity Event the evening of Feb. 9 at the community/senior center.

One of the many interesting things about Rocky Hill is its relationship to the Connecticut River. In addition to our proud seafaring history, we are the home of the Rocky Hill-Glastonbury Ferry, the oldest ferry in America, and for many years had a booming fishing industry. The Hale family has been prominent in all these areas.

Firefighters don’t just extinguish fires. They provide emergency medical aid, rescue people from burning buildings, extricate people trapped in crashed cars and trucks, and other scenarios, and much more.

Town officials temporarily declared five towers at the Concierge Apartments on Cold Spring Road unfit for habitation after alleged building code violations were discovered including lack of heat, burst pipes, flooding and issues with fire safety.

America’s historic involvement with slavery reached all the way to the town of Rocky Hill. The first pastor of the Rocky Hill Congregational Church, the Rev. Daniel Russel, owned a female slave named Cloe Prut.
