Talk about a Boy Scout always being prepared. Shalin Patel, 15, showed up to his conversation with Rocky Hill LIFE wearing a necktie. The 15-year-old rising junior at Rocky Hill High School had his facts and figures straight. He is a member of Troop 121 and hopes to earn the highest rank the Boys Scouts of America has to offer – Eagle scout.

A young couple with a passion for farming decided to take the plunge and open their own farm. Less than a year later, things are going well and they are beginning to enjoy the results of their efforts.

The food, the décor and the beverages all suggest that No Mames Mexican Cantina is not a typical Mexican restaurant. The newest member of the Doro Restaurant Group is designed to stand out for serving high-quality food and beverages. The eatery is celebrating its first anniversary since opening in the Marshalls plaza at 1140 Silas Deane Highway this past year. Phill Alves serves as the general manager and Ryan de Grouw is the executive chef.

In March of 2017 Lisa Zerio, then the director of Rocky Hill Parks and Recreation, contacted the Rocky Hill Historical Society about an old flag that had been stored in the town vault for many years. We expected another 48-star flag to add to our collection but what we found was an even greater treasure.

David McSergi is a human conduit. If the Rocky Hill resident went back in time, he would be a telephone switchboard operator plugging in lines to connect people, or a courier hand-delivering important messages, or perhaps even a newsboy shouting, “extra, extra!”
