A young couple with a passion for farming decided to take the plunge and open their own farm. Less than a year later, things are going well and they are beginning to enjoy the results of their efforts.

The food, the décor and the beverages all suggest that No Mames Mexican Cantina is not a typical Mexican restaurant. The newest member of the Doro Restaurant Group is designed to stand out for serving high-quality food and beverages. The eatery is celebrating its first anniversary since opening in the Marshalls plaza at 1140 Silas Deane Highway this past year. Phill Alves serves as the general manager and Ryan de Grouw is the executive chef.

If they knew back then what they know now, Spiro and Julia Koulouris might have had second thoughts about opening Heirloom Market at Comstock Ferre.

The American Traveling Tribute that was displayed for four days in Cove Park this past September drew crowds of people interested in learning more about American military personnel who died in wartime service to this country and in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack.

VThe last weekend of July promises to be a busy one on Main Street in Old Wethersfield. The Old Wethersfield Book Walk returns for a second year from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 25. That is also one of the days when the American Traveling Tribute will be on display outside the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center.

Wethersfield Teen Theater was founded 37 years ago to offer youngsters who enjoy performing the opportunity do so when school is not in session.

There were smiling faces all around at the Wethersfield PEP graduation the evening of May 21 at the Pitkin Community center. Nine women were there with their families and friends to celebrate completing this 14-week program that is presented under the auspices of UConn Extension. PEP stands for People Empowering People and this was the 10th graduating class since the town began offering the program.

Matthew Fletcher was born to play baseball. As a child, he circled the bases a lot, moving from town to town including Stamford, Trumbull, Fairfield – and Glastonbury twice – until coming to Wethersfield in 2015.
