Keeping up with the summer reading theme - “Plant a Seed, Read!” - the Glastonbury Arts has a “Grown from Here” art show at the Welles-Turner Memorial Library through Aug. 25. That will be followed by Glastonbury Arts’ 64th annual “On the Green” Fine Art & Craft Show Sept. 12 and 13.
The art show at the library features works by 22 local Glastonbury Arts artists. The exhibition celebrates gardening, flowers, plants, and the natural world. The collection showcases a wide range of artistic styles and mediums. All artwork will be available for purchase.

The On The Green show will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Hubbard Green located on the corner of Main Street and Hubbard Street.
“People return to On the Green year after year because there is always something new to discover among more than 100 exhibitors, from fine art to one-of-a-kind handmade pieces, said On the Green co-chair Kathy Simmons.

There will be more than 100 artists from Maine to Florida, including many from across New England, traveling to Glastonbury to showcase and sell original fine art and handmade craft. Organizers note that “whether you are a regular visitor or a first-time guest, you will find familiar favorites, exciting new talent, and plenty of inspiration throughout this beloved community arts event.”
“The show has lasting appeal because it offers more than shopping – it is an experience for the whole family, a community tradition, and a celebration of creativity on Hubbard Green,” said Glastonbury Arts Executive Director Sharon Dalicandro.

Attendees will enjoy an “artistic feast” that includes artists like Jeanne DeCoste’s whimsical animal portraits, Matt Becker’s innovative pottery, John Harris’s mesmerizing water interpretations, Kim Scoble’s animal portraits, Irene Zytka’s captivating abstracts, Doug Brandow’s stunning jewelry, Stephen Previte’s evocative landscapes, and much more.
“What makes On the Green so appealing is the chance to meet artists and makers directly, hear the stories behind their work, and take home something truly original,” said Wendy Upton, Glastonbury Arts board member and show volunteer.

There will be food, live music, family fun, and easy access to the show. Visit the food court, enjoy face painting for kids, and discover a special poetry feature inspired by the art of Glastonbury Arts member artists.
There will be free parking at the soccer field on Main Street and a free shuttle bus from Glastonbury High School to the show. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Globe Hollow Trio will perform.

A voluntary $5 entry fee is appreciated, and children are free. Proceeds benefit Glastonbury Arts’ year-round education programs and special projects, supporting a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been bringing the arts to the community for more than 60 years. GL
