Mayor Ken Lesser was upbeat in his remarks at the annual State of the Town Breakfast held Jan. 22 at the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center. It was also an opportunity to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the sponsoring organization, the Wethersfield Chamber of Commerce.

It branched out across the busy Silas Deane Highway by adding the former Pelton’s and Rite Aid building to its hair and makeup empire.

Kris DeLeo came to town at the start of the 2025-2026 academic year to fill a vacancy for principal at Highcrest School. She is learning about the school and community and is confident that she made a wise choice.

The state Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection reports that hate crimes have been steadily rising in Connecticut in recent years.

The Wethersfield High School drama program’s spring musical is “The Drowsy Chaperone,” a Canadian musical comedy featuring music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison and a book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar.

Last October, dozens of people gathered around the Riverfront Community Center and planted hundreds of daffodils to honor the memory of children who died in the Holocaust. By the time the third annual Holocaust Remembrance Evening is held in April, those blooms will help symbolize hope for the future.
