SIMSBURY— The Farmington Valley’s largest Juneteenth Celebration is back with a bang! The best in food, brew, live music and now fireworks come alive at a unique Juneteenth celebration in Simsbury. The Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center announced today that it will host the 2026 Juneteenth Freedom Celebration from 5:30 pm – 9 pm on Saturday, June 20th. Admission is free.

It’s that 152-acre landscape that draws me in, especially that pastoral view of the old farm from Route 4 – always a welcome break while usually stuck in that Route 4 traffic. But on this day, I sailed through and decided it was time to check out that pastoral view up close.

With a love of singing and comforting others through song, the all-volunteer members of Threshold Choir attend the bedsides of people on the threshold of the end of life – those who are in hospitals or hospice.

When building a 500-piece jigsaw puzzle, some pieces fit together easily and naturally, but others we may try from many different angles before we make an accurate connection. This process is often frustrating and time-consuming, but once we have endured all the attempts, the complete picture makes the toil worthwhile.
