Superintendent Scott Hurwitz’s busy summer

It was a busy summer for new Superintendent Scott Hurwitz as he hosted “Around Town With Dr. Hurwitz” sessions at the Welles-Turner Memorial Library, Riverfront Park, the Farmers Market and during a backpack event.

“Here in Glastonbury students are at the heart of our work,” he said on his day one message to the community. “Our commitment is to follow a clear path to engage in open communication to make sure that we are a community working together. I look forward to all the opportunities ahead to get to know you, to get to work with you and do great work so our students can be at their very best.”

Hurwitz plans to spend his first few months listening to and learning from students, families, staff, and community members and leaders. He noted that “trust isn't something that comes with a title — it's something that is earned.” He urged students and parents to introduce themselves and come up with one thing they are proud of about Glastonbury schools and one thing they think the district

can do better.
