The Rev. Ron Cox likes to write books for children that convey a positive message. He recently published “The Little Bunnies: An Easter Story.”
It’s the tale of three little bunnies named Comet, Starburst and Velvet who live in Bethlehem and were born on the same night as Jesus. They knew him and played with him until he set out to begin his ministry.

When he didn’t return, they set out to find him. Along the way they met kind strangers, heard cherished memories and discovered the power of hope, faith and everlasting love.
“The Little Bunnies” invites children and families to experience the Easter message through the eyes of three devoted friends. Cox said it is a tender reminder that, even though he cannot be seen, Jesus is always near.
“This is my third book. I thought I’d do a picture book” at the suggestion of his wife Jeanie, he said.
All the artwork was created using artificial intelligence. He said the idea for the book came from when he was the pastor at the Rocky Hill United Methodist Church and how he originally wrote it as an intergenerational play.
“This year I was revisiting it,” he added. “I think it’s great little book. I really like it.”
His previous books are “The Journey to Bethlehem” and “You Are You, You Are Special: A Story of Belonging.”
The target audience for the new book is children in general. That includes what he calls “pre-readers” in grades 1-3 who can hear it told by their parents.
“I like writing stories. There’s also a legacy part of it for your kids and for your family,” Cox said.
“During the pandemic Jeanie and I went to Stamford to help our daughter with homeschooling” her twin sons, he added. They are both former teachers. He taught language arts and music.
That experience motivated him to write a children’s story about adventurous ants that in turn motivated the twins to read and learn the alphabet. This is the template for a fourth book he plans to write.
At the end of each chapter of “The Little Bunnies” children can enjoy the opportunity to draw a picture or download something extra using a QR code. The book also contains songs, which is no surprise because Cox is also a musician who penned the official town song “Rocky Hill Is My Home.”
The book can be purchased online for $12.99 but he said any church that would like to buy multiple copies can do so through him at the reduced author’s rate. RHL
